Nature of Counselling
Counselling is a collaborative process aimed at supporting emotional wellbeing, strengthening relationships, and fostering personal growth.
While many clients experience meaningful change, outcomes can vary. At times, therapy may involve exploring sensitive or distressing experiences, which can feel uncomfortable. We will move at a pace that feels manageable and supportive for you.
Scope of Practice
Counselling is provided within the scope of professional training and qualifications.
It is not a substitute for medical, psychiatric, or legal advice. Where appropriate, referrals to other professionals may be recommended as part of your care.
Confidentiality
Your privacy is taken seriously. Information shared in counselling is kept confidential, except in the following circumstances:
There is a risk of serious harm to you or another person
There are concerns regarding the safety of a child or vulnerable person
Records are required by a court of law (subpoena)
You provide written consent for information to be shared
For couples counselling, the relationship is considered the client. This means that information shared individually may be brought into joint sessions where it is clinically relevant to the work.
